Education and Training – Level 3 Award
The course will be delivered using a hybrid model where you will attend alternate weeks in class and online. Classes will typically be 2 hours long and will help to showcase teaching methodologies that will act as a starting point for a solid grounding in learner-centred, reflective classroom practice.The course will run on Tuesdays from 5pm and you'll need to dedicate at least 3 hours per week to study outside of the taught sessions. The course will start in February 2026.
To enrol on this course applicants must be 19+ years old. There are no formal entry requirements although GCSE English or equivalent is desirable.Additionally, applicants must have good communication skills appropriate to Level 3 and must be able to write accurately and coherently in English. Applicants without a Level 2 qualification in English will undergo a short initial assessment to determine whether they meet the required level of literacy skills required for this course.You will also need to have appropriate subject knowledge, experience, and qualifications (at least Level 3) in your chosen teaching subject.
Competent digital skills and access to appropriate resources are also recommended as the course will be delivered using a hybrid model
The Roles, Responsibilities, and Relationships in Education and Training involve understanding your role as an educator and building positive, professional relationships with learners to create an effective learning environment. Inclusive Learning and Teaching Approaches focus on developing supportive and accessible learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, ensuring equality and diversity are respected. The Assessment in Education and Training component emphasizes the importance of effectively assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback to support development and achievement. The Micro-teach is a 30-minute practical teaching session that allows you to demonstrate your teaching skills on a subject of your choice. Finally, the Reflective Learning Journal involves weekly reflections on your learning experiences and how they influence and enhance your teaching practice.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a nationally recognised qualification for teaching in post-16 education (i.e., adult education). It gives teachers, or those wishing to teach in the adult, post compulsory sector, a recognised, good quality award that will enable them to show they have the required skills to deliver training and carry out assessment during that training.You may also want to progress to the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (AVRA) to qualify as an assessor.Alternatively, you may want to progress to a higher-level teaching qualification such as the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) or an equivalent apprenticeship.
You will undertake 1 micro-teach which will be graded, plus a number of short written assignments. There is no examination or requirement for a teaching placement on this course.
