GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview. Mature applicants may be considered on relevant experience without having the required entry requirements. However, an interview will always be required.
The Motor Vehicle Mechanics Level 1 Diploma covers essential units such as Basic Engine Maintenance, Vehicle Systems, Braking and Suspension Systems, Tyre and Wheel Maintenance and Health and Safety in the Workshop.What makes the course exciting is the practical, real-world training in fully equipped workshops, where you will work on actual vehicles and develop the core skills needed for a career in the automotive industry.
Completion of this course can lead to progression to our Level 2 vehicle maintenance programme. Alternatively, you
could enter employment within the motor industry as an apprentice.Career opportunities at this stage may include roles such as Workshop Assistant, Trainee Mechanic or Vehicle Valeting Technician, providing valuable hands-on experience in the motor trade.
The Motor Vehicle Mechanics Level 1 course is assessed through a mix of practical tasks, written assignments and online or paper-based tests. Learners complete written work and quizzes that test their understanding of vehicle systems, maintenance procedures and health and safety practices.
