Apprenticeships allow you to work while you learn, combining paid employment with training. You’ll spend most of your time with an employer and some time studying at college. Apprenticeships are available at different levels and are a great way to gain experience, build industry skills and earn a salary while working toward a recognised qualification.
Foundation Learning (also known as Entry Level or Level 1 programmes) is designed for students who need to build confidence, essential skills and readiness for higher-level study. These programmes help you develop key skills such as English, maths, personal development and employability, while exploring different vocational areas to find the pathway that suits you.
T Levels are advanced, career-focused qualifications designed with employers. They are equivalent to three A Levels and combine classroom learning with a substantial industry placement (around 45 days). T Levels are ideal if you want a practical route into skilled employment, higher apprenticeships or university.
Vocational courses focus on developing practical skills and knowledge for a specific career area. They are hands-on, industry-focused and often assessed through coursework and practical assignments. Examples include BTECs, City & Guilds and other technical qualifications. These courses are perfect if you prefer applied learning and want a direct route into work or higher-level study like university.
