GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview.

You will have the opportunity to take part in both internal and external competitions, giving you valuable experience and helping you develop your skills in a competitive environment. Previous students have achieved outstanding success, including reaching the national WorldSkills Finals.

Throughout your course, you will also gain valuable industry experience through work placements and live projects. There are many opportunities to collaborate with fellow students and industry professionals through fashion shows, photoshoots, and creative projects within the Croydon School of Art and with local businesses.

A key feature of the College is its strong employer partnerships, which are embedded throughout your learning experience. Employers regularly attend our employability events, providing opportunities to network and explore future career pathways. You can also access support and advice on apprenticeships, employment, and progression opportunities through our Employability Hub and Apprenticeship Office.

On completion, you can progress onto Level 2 in Beauty Therapy, Barbering or Hairdressing. Alternatively, you may wish to pursue an apprenticeship. You can pursue job roles such as Salon or Spa Receptionist, Junior Hairdresser, Beauty Salon Assistant or Beauty Counter Assistant.

Practical assessments will take place during your salon sessions and all of these are carried out on real clients and will be assessed by one of our highly trained professional members of staff. Creative assignments and projects will be used to showcase your underpinning knowledge of each technical skill learnt and these will be used as evidence for your portfolio.
