Access courses are specially designed to help mature learners gain the qualifications needed to progress to university. Pre-access courses are a stepping stone to access courses and unversity. They bridge the gap between your previous education and your next steps to university. Whilst studying a pre-access, you will be able to complete your English and maths studies. Providing a supportive learning environment with smaller class sizes, you'll be surrounded by like-minded individuals. This course focuses on digital skills, biology, psychology, nursing studies and infection control.

English and maths at GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D).Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered.
This course is designed to equip you with essential study skills, including essay and report writing, as well as honing your speaking, listening and reading comprehension abilities. Familiarising yourself with the expections of higher education such as indepenedent learning, critical thinking and academic writing, making it easier for when you move onto an Access to Higher Education course. These courses often have lower entry requirements, making it accessible option for individuals who may not meet the traditional entry criteria of other courses. If you're passionate about pursuing a career in nursing and currently work in the healthcare sector, this course will help turn that interest into a reality.
You will be able to internally progress to Access Level 3 in Nursing, Nursing for Healthcare Workers, Social Work, Social Sciences, Midwifery or Science.
The core subjects for the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing include: study skills
, human biology,
nursing studies, psychology and tutorial support.There will be a variety of assessment methods including: practical assessments, oral presentation, debates, coursework, project work and examinations.
