Access courses are specially designed to help mature learners gain the qualifications needed to progress to university. They bridge the gap between your previous education and the requirements for higher education, providing a supportive learning environment with smaller class sizes. You'll be surrounded by like-minded individuals, offering plenty of opportunities to network and share experiences. The course is structured over two days a week, allowing you to balance your studies with other commitments.This course is crafted to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to seamlessly transition into a degree or diploma program in higher education, focusing on Nursing or related fields. This is a qualification designed for adults with an interest in Adult Nursing, Child Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing or adults seeking a change of direction because of unemployment or lack of career opportunities.
English at GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C) and maths at GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D). Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview. You may be required to study GCSE maths at college if not gained already.
This course is designed to equip you with essential study skills, including essay and report writing, as well as honing your speaking, listening and reading comprehension abilities. You will be taught Human Biology and Nursing studies. Throughout the course, you’ll receive dedicated support with UCAS applications, helping you explore your next steps and create standout personal statements.If you're passionate about pursuing a career in nursing, this course will help turn that interest into a reality.
Learners primarily progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Midwifery, Adult Nursing, Child Nursing, Related Health Studies degrees. In addition, internal progression to: Undergraduate Degree in Public Health and Social Care at Croydon University Centre. Career opportunities after higher education include registered nurse, nurse practitioner, teaching roles or nurse administrator.
