3 GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D) or a related Level 1 vocational qualification including, English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered.
These qualifications are designed to provide learners with the foundational skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in sport or advance within the sector.Topics covered include participating in sport, planning and running a sports event, work experience in the sports industry, planning and evaluating sports sessions, anatomy and physiology for exercise.
You will have the opportunity to attend a range of exciting trips, including university visits, museum tours and sports stadium visits. In addition, you'll hear from inspiring guest speakers, such as fitness professionals, sports coaches, Palace for Life representatives, professional athletes and more. You'll also gain valuable qualifications including First Aid.
On completion you can progress to further education to complete level 3 sport related course or start an apprenticeship. This course opens up a wide range of exciting career opportunities including Personal Training, Sport Coaching, Gym manager, Fitness Instructor or Outdoor Acitivity Instructor.
You will be assessed through continuous coursework-based assessment. Assessment methods include: portfolios, diaries, video evidence, powerpoint presentations, discussion and role play.
