ESOL 16-18 year olds (English for Speakers of other Languages) All Levels
Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course is designed for students aged 16 to 18 who want to improve their confidence and skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English.
Whether you want to improve your academic performance, prepare for future employment opportunities, or communicate more effectively in everyday life, this course provides a supportive learning environment with expert guidance from experienced teachers.
Alongside ESOL, you will also study maths, develop essential digital skills, and build the employability skills needed for success in the workplace. Through engaging lessons and practical activities, you will gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills required to progress to further education, training, or employment.
By completing this course, you will be better prepared to achieve your goals, become more independent, and participate fully in your community and future career.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Before you start, you will complete an initial assessment to help us determine your current level of English and identify the course that best suits your needs and abilities.
You must demonstrate at interview that you are committed to full-time study and are motivated to develop a wide range of skills. This includes not only improving your English language skills but also enhancing your maths, digital, employability, and personal development skills to support your future progression into further education, training, or employment.
The ESOL course covers a variety of essential units aimed at improving your English language skills, including topics such as Speaking and Listening, Reading Comprehension, Writing for Different Purposes and Grammar in Context.You’ll also develop vocabulary and pronunciation skills to enhance everyday communication.Additionally, students may have the opportunity to participate in cultural trips and real-world experiences to immerse themselves in English-speaking environments, further enhancing their learning and confidence in using English in practical situations.
You can progress through the different levels of our ESOL courses, building your English skills and confidence at each stage.
After successfully completing Entry Level 3 ESOL, you will be ready to progress onto a wide range of Level 1 courses offered by the College. Many learners continue their educational journey by moving on to higher-level vocational or academic programmes while continuing to develop their English language skills.
You are assessed weekly with progress charted on a personal plan. When you are ready and able, you can be assessed using practical exams which lead to Award qualifications in Speaking & Listening, Reading or Writing.
