About the employer:
The Cathay Investments group is a rapidly growing portfolio of businesses spanning multiple sectors in chemicals, logistics, toys and healthcare. We focus predominately on chemicals and logistics and have grown our investments in both sectors substantially with our most recent acquisitions in 2019 enhancing our third party logistics and transport businesses.
Main purposes of the role:
- Finance Apprentice to work on all aspects of transactional finance, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, and cash.
- Assisting Management Accountant with all monthly management accounts and other ad hoc tasks within the finance department as and when required.
- To be a team player and to help and support others within the finance team, in order to manage workloads.
Key tasks:
- Book & Records control: obtain and record daily business transactions/documents
- Purchase/Sale Ledger- processing & analysis invoices before posting into accounting systems
- Tracking Intercompany transactions
- Contacting suppliers/clients/third parties for information
- Processing cashbook entries and maintaining cash book and bank reconciliations.
- Supporting for month end close and reconciliations.
- You will need to complete Client Profitability calculations, VAT returns, Collate pay information and provide cover for other finance team members.
- Answering and directing calls from our head office telephone line to the correct people throughout the company.
- Using your own initiative to look for/seek work from your manager when you have spare capacity and not to be idle.
Key results/objectives:
- Accurate and timely processing of Purchase, Sales and Cash transactions reconciled to their associated ledgers
- Maintenance of accruals and prepayment schedules updated and reconciled in time for production of monthly management accounts
- Use initiative to identify and implement improvements to finance transaction processing
