Access to HE Courses
Education is open to all and at Croydon College, we welcome applications from mature students.
Our extensive Access to HE programme will help you gain the foundation skills and qualifications to gain entry to university to study for a degree. With a wide range of pathways to choose from your can specialise in your area of interest and get a head start on degree level study.
We’re proud that Adult Learning at Croydon College was rated Ofsted GOOD (2023).
Who is the Access to HE Diploma for?
It is designed for adults (aged 19 and above) who may have been out of full-time education for some time or those who want to apply to university but don’t have the required qualifications. Some may be considering a career change.
How will I pay for the course?
If you are aged 19-23 and don’t already have a full Level 3 qualification your Access course will be fully funded. Otherwise, if you are aged 19+, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your Access to HE Diploma course. The loan will be paid directly to your college (or whoever is running the course) on your behalf. Student Finance England will ‘write off’ any outstanding Advanced Learner Loan balances you owe for an Access to HE course once you complete a higher education course. The Access to HE Diploma is the only qualification that offers this loan waiver. It is important you have your loan approved at the beginning of the academic year to avoid having to pay the full course fee.
I’m doing this for myself, to improve my skills and so I have better opportunities. I would encourage others to not be afraid to approach their teachers and take opportunity of the support available.

The access course was the best thing that ever happened to me. I would advise to anyone who has empathy to complete this course.
