of Other Languages (ESOL)

Our ESOL courses are aimed at individuals whose first language is not English.

The course provides comprehensive instruction in reading, writing listening and speaking to improve overall language skills.

The courses can cater to learners at various proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced students, and focus on practical usage of English in everyday situations, academic settings, and professional environments.

Course Objectives

All Courses

  • Enhance vocabulary and grammar knowledge
  • Develop effective communication skills in English
  • Improve reading comprehension and writing abilities
  • Build confidence in listening and speaking

Beginner Level

Reading and Writing:

  • Basic sentence structures
  • Common vocabulary
  • Simple texts (e.g. signs, short articles etc.)

Listening and Speaking:

  • Basic conversations (e.g. greetings, introductions etc)
  • Pronunciation practice
  • Listening to simple dialogues

Intermediate Level

Reading and Writing:

  • Paragraph structure
  • Intermediate vocabulary
  • Reading comprehension of short stories and articles
  • Writing letters, emails and short essays

Listening and speaking

  • Engaging in more complex conversations
  • Group discussions
  • Listening to intermediate- level audio materials

Advanced Level

Reading and Writing:

  • Advanced grammar and vocabulary
  • Reading and analysing academic text
  • Writing detailed essays, reports and research papers

Listening and speaking:

  • Participating in debates and presentations
  • Listening to advanced-level lectures
  • Advanced pronunciation and intonation practice.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a certificate indicating their proficiency level and accomplishments in the ESOL programme.
