Monday 9 November 2020 sees the start of our Prevent Awareness Week. Prevent is part of the Government’s Counter Terrorism Strategy and our awareness week has activities to support both staff and students in gaining the information needed to safeguard both ourselves and our communities.

What’s on?

For Students:

  • Tuesday 10th @ 9.30am – 10.30am and Friday 13th @ 9.30am – 10.30am: Understanding & Tackling Extremism delivered by Jake Butterworth & Jennie Fisher, Counter Extremism Division, DfE

Exploring extremism, touching on the extremist use of online platforms and fake news, and establishing what can be done to lower the risks around extremism.

There will also be a short video available via Moodle from SO15 Counter Terrorism Command Croydon.

For Staff

  • Tuesday 10th @ 11am – 12 Noon: Right Wing Extremism delivered by PC Neil Parham, Community Engagement Team, Met Police

Looking at understanding Right Wing groups in the UK and how they impact on society. Exploring the different groups and learn who they are, what they stand for and how their views can lead to radicalisation.

  • Tuesday 10th @ 3.30pm – 4.15pm & Wednesday 11th @ 1.30pm – 2.15pm: Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP) delivered by Haydar Muntadhar, Prevent Coordinator, LB Croydon
