University Centre Croydon (UCC) celebrated the exceptional talent and success of its Higher Education students at its annual Graduation Ceremony on Friday 22 November 2019.

Held at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon, over 100 graduands were joined by over 450 guests. The ceremony was also attended by The Worshipful the Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Humayun Kablr, Principal and CEO of Croydon College, Caireen Mitchell, Dean of UCC Fadia Clarke, Chair of Governors Gordon Smith and Professor Kelly Coate.

Our Master of Ceremonies, Celia Delaney received a warm response from both graduands and guests. After reading Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, Celia joined Unilever’s graduate scheme and went on to be HR Director of one of their factory sites. She now performs musical comedy and has had sell out shows in London and Edinburgh.

Students graduated from UCC in a variety of subjects, including Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Business, Public Health & Social Care, Law, Criminology, Early Childhood Studies and several Apprenticeship Qualifications.

There was a total of 15 awards presented across the different cohorts. All the awards had been selected by staff and included Most Inspirational Business Student Of The Year Award, awarded to Agnes Rodeles Pangan, and The University Centre Croydon Principal’s Award, which was received by John Jones-Alleyne.  As well as giving the Student Speech of Thanks, Janelle Coore collected the Award for Early Childhood Studies and The Croydon College Governor’s Award!

During the Ceremony, attendees were treated to the amazing talents of current students. Cherie Odunayo from Coulsdon College sang ‘A Man’s World’ and Shelia Tatyana Ocampo Pruna and Karina Wiktoria Piechinik from Croydon College sang ‘The Greatest Showman’.

After the ceremony, the graduates and their guests celebrated with selfies using the personalised UCC gif booth and took advantage of the bar inside Fairfield Halls.

Principal and CEO of Croydon College Caireen Mitchell was extremely proud of all graduates, adding ‘This event provides a wonderful opportunity to formally recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Higher Education students ending their studies in the academic year 2018/19. It also allows us to recognise the ongoing success of the University Centre Croydon. ‘

Congratulations to our Class of 2019 and good luck for the future!
