Archive footage of the Duke of Edinburgh, attending the opening of the current College building in 1960 has been found by staff.

The footage, available on YouTube, shows Prince Philip joining The Queen to attend the opening, meeting a number of dignitaries and students during the nine-minute video.

The video shows crowds lined up along a number of town centre high streets, and some fascinating footage of the borough more than 60 years ago.

The visit was recorded on 3 November 1960, and can watched on the College’s YouTube channel.
