Why did you choose to study Health and Social Care?

I get a great sense of satisfaction from helping those in need. I have always had a drive in trying ways to help others so that they can be empowered and independent in society.

Why did you chose to study at Croydon College?

Croydon College is in my local area so it’s convenient to get to. The College also has fantastic facilities with a consistent ‘Good’ grade from Ofsted. The Health and Social Care course provides the necessary knowledge and skills needed to embark on a career in the health sector.

Have you experienced any challenges during your time here?

A real challenge of mine was being able to adapt and grow into a Health and Social Care Practitioner. Initially, I found the work-load difficult but with the help of my lectures I am able to deal with these sorts of challenges.

The lectures taught me the meaning of resilience and now I am able to put that into practice and achieve excellence. I was also taught how to develop my ’emotional intelligence’ during a few sessions with the academic leader. From these sessions, I have become more empowered and confident in myself.

This goes to show that no matter the challenge, if you seek help someone will guide you in the right direction.

What have been your highlights whilst studying at Croydon College?

My number 1 highlight has been achieving straight distinctions in all units from level one through to level 3. The consistent support from my lecturers still amaze me and I’m extremely thankful. I also really enjoyed the end of year celebrations that the Health and Social Care team organise so that we could celebrate our achievements together.

What are your future aspirations?

I received an offer from my first choice university – I am hoping to go in with the same mindset, complete my degree and leave with outstanding grades. I would love to return to Croydon College as a classroom assistant so that I can help students like myself to be better and believe they can achieve anything when they put their mind to it. Another aspiration of mine is to work with vulnerable individuals and give them the motivation to retain their individuality.
