Croydon College’s state-of-the-art onsite training restaurant that is open to the public – Chefs Restaurant – has achieved a Grade 5 food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.

This is the highest rating possible for businesses, and lets customers know hygiene standards are very good. The rating is given following an inspection by food safety officers, which covers a number of hygiene issues, including the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, the cleanliness of facilities and how food safety is managed.

Chefs Restaurant, which is launching a new menu for February, can be accessed via Park Lane and allows members of the public to enjoy restaurant-quality food and service at a fraction of the usual price, with two courses for £10 and three courses for £15.

The restaurant is run by Croydon College catering and hospitality students who are taught and supervised by highly-skilled tutors with years of industry experience, offering students the experience of working in a commercial environment.

Fadia Clarke, Croydon College Group Vice Principal Training Skills & HE, said: “Fantastic news! Well done to all. This rating is a reflection of the quality of food and the environment.”
