What is Football Academy?
The football academy is a 2-Year, full-time education and football development programme delivered in partnership with semi-professional club AFC Croydon Athletic. Open to talented footballers aged between 16-19 years, the academy programme is a must for any football enthusiast.
Why join the Academy?
The scheme enables young players to enjoy 8 hours of coaching by UEFA qualified coaches and competitive fixtures alongside their academic studies. AFC Croydon Athletic FC will have teams in the prestige FA Youth Cup. Bostik Youth League, Colleges league, Surrey league and many more.
Where will the academy be held?
The Croydon based academy students will train at the stadium on our state of the art training facilities. The Coulsdon based students will study and train on site but there is access to 2 full size UEFA professional grass pitches, a fully equipped gym, 3G pitches and indoor futsal facility.
What education programme can I study?
Over the 2-year duration, players will study a variety of courses, including A levels, BTEC courses, Construction, Languages, GCSE retakes, plus many more.
Course Highlights
- Compete in the FA Youth cup, Bostick Youth League, College League and local county leagues.
- Professional coaching by UEAF “A” & “B” licence coaches
- Full time goal keeping coach
- Represent AFC Croydon Athletic Club
- Wear official Nike training kit
Current year
- The Under 19s boy teams currently sit on top of their league having defeated West Thames College 10- The Under 19s boys’ team are the current reigning league champions
- The Under 19s boys’ team started the league strong by gaining 3 points defeating Berkshire College of Agriculture 4-1.
- Beginning of November, The U19s girls’ team beat Leyton College with an astonishing 7-0 win and West Ham U19s 6-0!
- Some stand out students have been Rosie Rowan, Shania Forbes and Megan Perkins
What are the costs?
Both the football and educational element of the Academy is fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme. There will be subsidised cost for purchasing the training kit.
