Electrical Installations Department competition reaches final round
Level 1 and 2 students in Croydon College’s Electrical Installations Department have been taking part in a bit of friendly competition, where they have been showcasing what they’ve been learning with the aim of competing externally in the near future.
The first heats of the Electrical Installation Competition took place just before Christmas, with students being given two-and-a-half hours to install and test two different circuits as part of a small-scale electrical installation board.
As part of the competition, Richard Peach, a qualified electrician from Axis Europe, was invited to meet and speak with students about standards, experience and career progression opportunities within the electrical industry, as part of a Q&A session.
Richard was joined by lecturers Oliver Balay and Harminder Birdee to judge the competition, with eight competitors and amongst those students were Nicholas Stratford and Jaheim Conteh making it through to the final, which is due to take place in February. Winning prizes awarded were Amazon gift vouchers and new tool belts, with more to look forward to in the Finals!
