The next generation of Croydon nurses have started their courses this week in a new £1million state-of-the-art facility following the completion of Croydon University Centre’s new nursing suite.

The Clinical Simulation Centre, located at Croydon University Centre within Croydon College, will provide the perfect setting for students on the BSc Adult Nursing course, which is delivered by the University of Roehampton.

Replicating realistic community and in-hospital settings, the new facility will give students unrivalled practical training and the opportunity to safely practice clinical skills under the guidance of experience clinical and academic staff from the University of Roehampton.

Teaching starts in the Clinical Simulation Centre today, 20 September, and students will work with other students, role players and hi-tech patient simulators and will take part in placements at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and other local health providers.

The BSc Adult Nursing degree has proved popular with applicants, with a significant number of applications for this academic year as a result of an increased demand for such courses in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state-of-the-art facilities were completed by local Croydon fit-out and refurbishment specialists ITC Concepts for the Croydon University Centre.

Caireen Mitchell, Principal & CEO of the Croydon College Group, said: “We’re excited to be welcoming new students into our wonderful new Clinical Simulation Centre as we realise an ambition of the College to bring nursing education to the borough.

“The Clinical Simulation Centre looks fantastic, and the facilities are outstanding and I’m certain it will inspire students to go far in such a fulfilling career. I know staff can’t wait to get started and I’m sure students can’t wait either.”
