On 14 July, Croydon College held the 2022 Access graduation. The Access to Higher Education Diploma courses is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to progress to a degree or diploma course in higher education.

Over 250 students a year attend Access and Pre-Access courses with many progressing onto Croydon’s own higher education options, and to universities locally and throughout the country.

The ceremony started with an introduction from Agnes Joseph (pictured below), Head of School of Business, Community & Access, who reiterated to the graduates how proud we all are at Croydon College to have been a part of the students’ learning journeys.

“We hope that this willpower that you have shown over the past year will endure and enable you to become successful in whatever you do.” – Agnes Joseph.

Following Agnes’ introduction, Martin Silverwood (pictured below), Vice Principal Education & Quality, highlighted to the graduates, “This year is even more special when we consider that this is the first full year we have come back to lessons”. The Vice Principal also expressed his admiration for those for those Access students who have achieved their diplomas whilst juggling work, parenthood and life outside the college. “You are nothing short of remarkable,” he said.

Following Martin’s keynote address, certificates and awards were presented by Tony Stevenson, Chair of Governors.

The ceremony ended with closing remarks from Kathleen Hawke – Curriculum Manager, School of Business, Community and Access, who said, “We wish you the very best in the future. We hope you keep in touch and let us know your journey. But above all, all I can say is, the very best to each and every one of you!”
