On Wednesday, 20th November, we took a group of eight ambitious students to London Metropolitan University for a transformative Finance Insight Day in collaboration with Sainsbury’s.
This event opened the door for our students to explore the exciting world of finance, offering them invaluable insights into the journeys of Sainsbury’s top executives. They discovered how these leaders charted their paths to success and the vital role finance plays within a major corporation.
The executives also shared their experiences and highlighted the various financial departments they oversee and the impactful tasks they undertake.
A standout moment of the day was an interactive session where students tackled a hypothetical financial challenge. Presented with three business proposals for a new Sainsbury’s store in either Manchester, Leicester, or Bristol, students engaged in lively discussions as they evaluated each option and passionately defended their choices. The interaction with Sainsbury’s executives enriched their learning experience, providing mentorship and guidance.
Overall, this event was a powerful educational journey, and I am confident that our students emerged with a renewed appreciation for the essential role of finance in business and a clearer vision of how to pursue their careers in this dynamic field.
