This week, Maths and English students collaborated to participate in the opening stages of the Big Idea Challenge Competition, part of the school and college’s entrepreneurial idea competition, hosted by members of London Metropolitan University.
The first stage encouraged teamwork and creative thinking. Students were tasked with constructing a freestanding bottlecap holder using only pipe cleaners. Through this challenge, students discovered that stability was more important than height in design.
In the next round, participants selected their own CEOs and board members for fictional companies across various industries and competed in a general knowledge quiz. The final challenge saw students develop and present business pitches, with ideas ranging from green space expansion and stylised skater socks to international drink importation and dance therapy.
The winning business idea, “Baby Bites,” aimed to help parents manage teething pain for their babies, featuring a product package and an accompanying app to track teething progress. The “Baby Bites” team will now advance to the next stage of the competition, a boot camp hosted at NatWest’s headquarters.
We wish them luck and extend our sincere thanks to London Metropolitan University and all those who participated.
