Emma Newbury, Level 3 Art & Design student has recently been selected and taken part in paid work experience with TURF Project as LOFT Curator Residency 2020.

Turf Projects is an artist-run contemporary art space that supports local artists by hosting free public exhibitions, workshops and events.

The residency focused on curating the inhouse project space LOFT, including curating and installing window displays, moving projects/work online during lockdown, running social media, and work alongside professional artists.

As the resident curator, Emma was able to take advantage of the perks of working with Turf. Including a dedicated desk space, mentorship from Turf Projects staff, exhibition and events curation opportunities, as well as receiving training in programming exhibitions and events, marketing, installation, fundraising, and budgeting.

Mixed Media Technician, Katie Bowdery said, ‘Emma’s hard work over the past few years at Croydon College and as LOFT’s resident curator, has been of great benefit to her. She will now be moving on to Salford university to do a degree in Media and Performance starting September 2021.’
