How have you found your role as Student Body President?

As Student Body President my schedule is very busy! Having said that, I really enjoy balancing my studies alongside representing the students of Croydon College. Although it can be very challenging to meet deadlines and complete work on behalf of the student body, I have been able to learn from it. I highly recommend this experience to everyone because it will give you a lot of confidence.

What opportunities have you got involved in?

Not only have I been presented with the opportunity to become Student Governor for Croydon College, but I have been closely involved with so many events both inside and outside the College. With my role as Student Governor, I get to attend various events whereby Student Governors for Colleges across the UK meet. I have also had the chance to attend training sessions to improve my leadership skills and how to deal with other people around me as Student Governor and President. Back in September 2019, I was involved in organising the Climate Crisis Protest at Croydon College- that was great fun!

How has the College supported you during your time here?

From the moment I started my studies here, the College has supported me by following my progress and providing support where necessary. Not only that, but the College has very kindly provided the facilities and support needed in order for me to be an effective Student Body President.

Do you have any advice for future students?

Be patient during the process of learning as we all learn at different speeds and in different ways. Always ask questions. You should never be worried to ask questions; it’s a great way to develop and learn. Attendance and punctuality is also very important because it helps you to keep track of deadlines and learn effectively.
