New post-16 courses will be coming to Croydon College this September, giving residents opportunities to launch careers in a range of specialities.
Headed up by an innovative Esports BTEC endorsed by the British Esports Association, the College is also introducing Level 2 courses in Barbering and Hospitality – as well as a Level 3 course in Gym Instructing and Personal Training.
The game-changing Esports course, available as both a Level 2 and Level 3 qualification, will give students the opportunity to start a career in a fast-growing industry worth more than £1billion.
The Level 2 course will prepare learners for work or an Apprenticeship by giving them the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge, technical and practical skills, as well as the chance to apply these skills in work-related environments – along with progression to the Level 3 qualification.
The Level 3 course is aimed at people wanting to progress to employment in the Esports industry or may wish to enter Higher Education – with many universities offering degrees in the subject. It will be recognised by employers and could lead to a job as an esports player, team coach, social media influencer, data analyst and much more.
The Barbering course, also new for 2022, will provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge that prove occupational competence as a junior barber, including customer service and generic employability skills.
The new Level 2 Hospitality course is ideal for anyone either in or wanting to move in to the food and beverage service industry – giving people the opportunity to get the skills needed to deliver a great dining experience, gaining experience in areas including food service, food safety, handling payments, bookings, serving beverages, bar service and menu design.
And for those wanting to help others achieve their fitness goals and maintain healthy lifestyles, there is a Level 3 BTEC in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course launching this September. Mapped to the CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer professional standards, this course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to work in that sector.
