Croydon College hosted a Jobs Fair on 26 October for unemployed disabled Croydon residents looking for work, as the College continues to welcome the community back to the building and ensure residents’ careers get the best possible start.

The Jobs Fair saw 28 employers come together to offer advice and guidance for attendees, including Natwest, NHS, DWP, Education Development Trust, Pension Protection Fund, Optivo, Mind, Croydon Vision and the World of Work team at Croydon College.

The day started with a networking breakfast hosted by the College, giving the employers an opportunity to find out how they are each supporting residents across the borough get back into work.

When the doors opened to the public, hosts saw more than 300 attendees visit the College looking for support. The College also welcomed special guest Robin Millar CBE, Chair Designate of Scope, who was impressed by the set-up and enjoyed being able to speak with many of the employers to learn what they are doing to help people with disabilities in the borough.

College staff and partners from Education Department Trust and DWP were on hand to ensure attendees were directed to the employers or support they needed most – the Asian Resource Centre of Croydon were also providing free health checks at the event.

Mike Davies, Kickstart / Youth Hub Manager at Croydon College said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to all the employers who hosted a stand and provided support for all the attendees. It was great to see so many happy faces.”

Feyley Barnham, StartUp Croydon, said: “We had a very successful day and we hope we were able to help everyone who came to speak to us. We’ve already seen a positive impact from the event as our numbers for our Bootcamp increased to full capacity; I couldn’t be more delighted. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and we hope to be involved next time.”
