In recognition of Careers Week (1-5 March), Croydon College, Coulsdon Sixth Form College and Croydon University Centre have put a focus on careers for the entire month – with a programme of free virtual events giving borough residents an exclusive chance to shape their future.

The events come as the Collegiate places even more focus on its skills and training agenda – helping relaunch young people’s careers through the Kickstart Scheme, offering even more apprenticeships and increased online learning provision alongside its traditional sixth form, further and higher education provision – giving every Croydon resident aged 16 and over the best chance of gaining new skills and qualifications

Coulsdon Sixth Form College will be highlighting all their subjects in career-focussed events. Visitors will be able to visit subject-specific talks, and hear from teachers and industry specialists. All the events start at 5.30pm and provide a chance for interested people to delve into their options post-College.

On 11 March, Croydon University Centre is virtually opening its doors to give people the opportunity to find out about the Higher Education opportunities available to them on their doorstep. People will be able to find out more about a range of degrees including Adult Nursing, which is new for 2021. Validated by the University of Roehampton, all the courses allow students to study close to home with reasonable tuition fees – many of which have remained frozen from last year. The session takes place between 4.30pm and 6.30pm and tickets can be booked here.

Croydon College is also hosting a special construction-focused event on 18 March – Meet the Construction Apprentice Employer – between 9am and 11am. Hosted by the College’s World of Work team and Croydon Commitment’s Ways 2 Work programme in partnership with Croydon Constructing Excellence Club, this event will give people looking to get into the construction and engineering industries the chance to find out more about the sector and speak to a number of employers working in the borough about the opportunities available to them. Hosted over Zoom, people can book their free place by following this link.

The College then finishes off the month with a Pathway Event on 25 March, where teaching staff will be talking about courses at the College and how they can launch careers. Split into two different sessions, www.croydon.ac.uk/events gives information on what subjects will be discussed during each session, along with a booking link.
