If you’re interested in pursuing a career working with children and young people, from advanced teaching assistants to play therapists and family support workers, we provide a strong foundation in this growing industry.
Our Early Years and Childcare courses are well-respected within the field and are designed to lead to further education at the university level. Additionally, our courses emphasize work placements, often leading directly to employment opportunities.
CHILDCARE AND h&sc – Level 1
The Level 1 Introductory Certificate prepares students to improve their knowledge and study skills that will then enable them to undertake study at Level 2 in a subject area of their choice. The course combines some practical activities as well as theory to give students an overview of a wide range of subjects allowing them to build on their study skills.
CHILDCARE – Level 2
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to work, or has just started to work in the Early Years Education Sector. It gives you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of, and develop skills in, the early year’s sector. This course gives you the opportunity, in due course, to enter employment within the early year’s sector.
CHILDCARE – Level 3
The Level 3 qualification prepares learners to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended that students will be able to enter the workforce as early year’s educators. Childcare courses are designed to equip students with the skills needed to look after children.
EARLY YEARS EDUCATION – T LEVEL
This is a two year course which is equivalent to 3 A levels. Students will spend 80% of their time in the classroom and 20% in an industry placement. During the course, students will learn how to work with children from 0-5 years, and gain knowledge of children up to 7 years. You gain a license to practice, enabling you to work or progress to university courses.
