Christmas is just around the corner, and to celebrate we are proud to present Croydon College’s official Christmas card, designed by Level 3 Foundation Diploma Art and Design student, Lucy Burgess. Lucy has also been involved in designing a Christmas card for the leader of Croydon Council, alongside fellow Art and Design students, Georgia Knowles and Malgorzata Gaska.
Earlier on in the year, Croydon Council approached Croydon School of Art to get students across the department to design an alternative, non-traditional Christmas card for the Council’s leader. The brief was presented to the students as part of their course and allowed them to build upon their work experience. The students had two weeks to devise concepts and develop these into final designs that were to be submitted for selection by Croydon Council’s Creative Director, Paula Murray and Curator of the Croydon Collection, Marie Rose-Tulley.
The designs of three students were selected, who were then invited to the Town Hall to pitch their designs to a panel made up of the Council Leader, Paula and Marie. In the end, a design from each student was selected as the panel could not decide upon a single image.
Academic Leader of HE Art and Design, Kelly Jackson said ‘Each student did a fantastic job fielding questions about their designs and I’m so pleased they all had a design selected. Since Lucy pitched three different designs herself, we decided to use one of her fantastic designs for Croydon College’s Christmas Card.’
Congratulations, Lucy, Georgia and Malgorzata!
