On Wednesday 7 December, over 20 Sport Science and Public Services students travelled to Coventry University for their Open Day. On arrival, the students had a tour of the facilities.
The sport students toured the Learning Resource Centre and the Students Hub. After this, they were joined by a student representative from the Occupational Health department, who showed them the facilities the physiotherapy students use to help support their clients.
The Public Services students toured a mock court room where they participated in a “Judge Judy” scenario with true-to-life prison cells and courtroom facilities. The students also attended a group lecture for the criminology course.
Staff and students enjoyed a complimentary lunch from the university restaurant before heading to a lecture lead by a subject specialist. The students experienced a taste of the course and were able to ask questions about university life and what to expect from different courses. As part of the sports sessions, the lecturers showed and demonstrated the Sports Theory suites, Fitness Testing areas and showed students where they study Sport Performance and Biomechanics and Sports Analysis.
The students had a totally immersive experience at Coventry University with some leaving encouraged to attend in the future.
