On the 17 November, Steve Harris from Fleetline visited Croydon College to inspire students to enter his industry which is vehicle paint and bodywork as well as mechanical. Steve emphasised that he wants to enlighten young people because he believes a lot of them don’t understand and see what motor vehicle does as an industry. The motor vehicle expert stated, “Technology in vehicles is advancing tremendously. It’s all computerised, diagnostics and ADAS (driver assistance) systems. My aim to attract people into our industry because we are struggling to get people into this field.”

Whilst on-site, Steve judged a competition: The motor vehicle students participated in doing PDIs (Pre-Delivery Inspection) and valeting, ready to be put on the car front and getting a valuation. As a professional in his field, Steve gave students some hints on what is really needed with the motor vehicle industry.

The students were split into teams and there was draw. The two winning teams were made up of Rhi and Aneshia and Kwabena and Daniel. A prize ceremony will take place at a later date.
