On the 10 November, Croydon College was a proud sponsor of the Croydon Business Excellence Awards 2022. Croydon College was sponsoring an award, “Business Commitment to Education, Training & Skills”, won by Vivona Earcare.
We are proud to have sponsored the Croydon Excellence Awards, these awards bring together local businesses, support community development and inspire the youth in our borough. Last week local businesses headed to Legacy Youth Zone, into the transformed sports halls for the awards ceremony. The night was a celebratory one. Our very own Nicola Tarry, Head of World of Work, presented an award and alumna Mashauna Brooks, Croydon College Business Administration Apprentice won the award for most =Inspirational Young Person.
On numerous occasions, this young lady has demonstrated her tendency to go “above and beyond”. A self-starter with leadership qualities, in her manager’s absence, Mashauna runs the office smoothly and has undergone training in Conflict Resolution, Domestic Violence Awareness and First Aid scoring an impressive 100% in all examinations.
Mashauna has been working as a Business Administration Assistant for 9 months at Caridon Foundation. The apprentice modestly stated “My role includes providing office support, keeping well organised files & records of business activity & participation in continuous improvement projects.”
Mashauna is a true reflection of what it means to be an inspirational young person. The award winner has run a number of initiatives for the homeless in Croydon. With her passion and enthusiasm to create change, Mashauna has donated more than 300 essential rucksacks to charities including Crisis and the Salvation Army.
Julius Lewis, another College apprenticeship alumnus was also nominated for the Inspirational Young Person award. See 2022 Finalists – Croydon Business Excellence Awards 2022 (croydonawards.co.uk)
We couldn’t be prouder at the College and Mashauna is not just an inspiration to young people, but to all.
