Rishi Jawaheer, CEO of Care Vision gave a demonstration to Croydon College BTEC Level 3 IT students showcasing software that helps care workers record interactions with their clients. The package also assists care staff and management to fulfil their legal requirements. Did you know it’s a legal requirement for care workers to weigh their clients every 30 days and discuss with a medical practitioner if they lose 3% or more of their body weight?
The CEO went on to explain that the software works on PC and mobile devices including tablets, giving a portable, flexible option to care workers. Each time a carer has an interaction with a client, they can select an icon from the screen to record the activity (e.g. personal care), and then select from a series of more detailed icons (e.g. shower, bath or oral hygiene). Under each of these icons there is a series of further options to quickly and efficiently add more detail. The application then produces a clear report of the interaction. The reports of interactions can be time-stamped by scanning a QR code that is conveniently located in easily accessible areas, such as the client’s room.
Enthusiastic and engaged, learners utilised their new knowledge by mapping out flows of data collected in the software package. For example, if the client and carer have a discussion where they choose meals for the coming day, this data is sent to the kitchen so that appropriate meals can be created. The conversation, and the client’s mood is recorded and stored so it can be retrieved in a report. The data can subsequently be searched to see if there are changes in the frequency of the client’s interactions or their apparent mood. This information could lead to interventions, if it is detected that the quality and/or frequency of interactions is deteriorating.
Rishi’s pride in the work he does as proprietor of a number of care homes, and developer of software was very evident.
