Following the success of the “Unlocked” end of year art exhibition at Croydon College, 12 art works were shortlisted by the curator of Croydon Art Space, Paul Hall. Out of the 12 shortlisted pieces, the judges – professional artists that exhibited in the Art Space – voted for their top three accompanied with written feedback for the selected artists.

On 21 July, Croydon Art Space hosted the award ceremony for the three winning artists. The event was attended by the judges, staff, friends and family of the winners. Sarah Jones Labour MP for Croydon gave out the awards to the Croydon School of Art students. The event was covered by Croydon Insider and those in attendance were impressed with artwork displayed and the vast talent shown by the students.

The 1st prize was given to Drew Peach (Art and Design Level 3, Year 2), who won an award and will have a wall of her artwork displayed in the February exhibition alongside award winning professional artist.

1st runner-up, Marwa Rahman (Art and Design Level 3, Year1), and 2nd runner-up, Yasmin Dias (Art and Design Level 3, Year 1), both won awards and will have their winning paintings displayed in the next exhibition at Croydon Art Space from September to January.

Well done to all the students. A shining example of how hard work, creativity and passion pays off.
