Overton Grange School

What made you choose this course?
It’s something I’m familiar with — my dad is a grill chef in Marylebone — so I’ve grown up around cooking. It’s always looked fun to me, and it’s something I’ve really wanted to explore for myself.

Why did you decide to study at Croydon College?
It’s local, which is important because I drop my sister to school nearby. The journey works perfectly for me, and the college felt like the right fit.

What do you enjoy most about your course?
I really enjoy the practical sessions and the people in my class. Everyone has different personalities and it shows through their cooking. It’s interesting seeing how different people prepare their food and express themselves.

How are you finding the teaching/support?
The support is really helpful. The tutors communicate much better than at high school, and they’re fun, engaging, and make every lesson enjoyable.

Are there any specific goals or career plans you have after completing this course?
It’s still early, but cooking is my passion and I can see myself doing it long term. My tutor last year even encouraged me to get in touch about part-time apprenticeship opportunities, which I’m excited to explore.

Would you recommend Croydon College to a future student? If so, why?
Definitely. Even though Croydon sometimes gets a negative reputation, inside the college it’s really welcoming. I also like the safety aspect of wearing lanyards — it makes the environment feel secure.
