Job Description
Job Title: GP Receptionist and Care Navigator Apprentice
Employer: Addington Road Surgery
Apprenticeship Standard: Business Administrator Level 3
Location: 77 Addington Road, West Wickham, Kent, BR4 9BG
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Greet and assist patients in a courteous manner, ensuring a positive experience.
- Schedule, monitor and manage patient appointments accurately to avoid conflicts and ensure timely care and support.
- Answer and direct phone calls, messages, and emails to the appropriate individuals within the practice.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy, providing information and support as needed.
- Provide administrative support to healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Assist in coordinating individual patient care plans by working closely with healthcare providers, patients, and their families.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless and integrated care for patients.
- Maintain detailed and organized care records, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Clinically code data on EMIS WEB
- Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors’ letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and coordinating care.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.
- Empathetic and caring nature to provide support and understanding to patients.
Additional Information:
- This role requires knowledge of Microsoft Office for administrative tasks.
- We are looking to hire three apprentices to join our team, contributing to the efficient operation of Addington Road Surgery and the provision of high-quality care to our patients.
- Apprentices will be linked to Croydon College for the duration of their apprenticeship, providing a structured learning environment to complement their practical experience at Addington Road Surgery.
