City & Guilds
This course is designed for those who have an interest in plumbing, with a desire to work in the building services or engineering sector. This qualification will assist in your progression to become a fully qualified plumber and you will develop and practise the skills required for employment and career progression.
Throughout this course you will study a range of subjects, including central heating systems, drainage, and hot and cold water systems, electrical and scientific principles and processes, and health and safety practices.
Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE. This will be part of all 16-18 year old students’ Study Programme alongside their main vocational or academic qualification and will be discussed with students at interview.
This programme is delivered by our fully trained and professional staff who have years of industry and site experience and you will benefit from learning in our modern, well-equipped workshops.
You will have the opportunity to undertake enrichment activities outside of Croydon College, with regular trips to exhibitions such as Eco-Build at the Excel Centre and on-site visits to construction sites.
Each year there is an intercollege construction and building services competition. Prizes and certificates are awarded and winners have the opportunity to enter the World Skills Competition along with other FE colleges.
A key distinguishing feature of the college is our links with employers and the ways in which we incorporate this into your learning. Employers attend our popular employability events and you can discuss Apprenticeships and progression opportunities in our Employability Hub or in the Apprenticeship Office.
