Course Highlights
This qualification provides learners with a range of introductory skills, as well as core knowledge, relevant to Barbering and customer service, alongside generic employability skills which are needed both in the Barbering sector.
To Achieve the City and Guilds level 2 Diploma in Barbering learners must achieve a minimum of 53 credits overall 44 must be achieved from the mandatory units which are as follows:
Unit 205 Advise and consult with clients Credits 8 GLH 63
Unit 206 Shampoo and condition and treat the scalp Credits 5 GLH 40
Unit 207 Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work Credits 3 GLH 26
Unit 214 Cut Men’s hair using basic techniques Credits 12 GLH 111
Unit 215 Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques Credits 5 GLH 42
Unit 216 Dry and Finish Men’s Hair Credits 5 GLH 45
Unit 217 Create Basic Outlines and Detailing Hair Credits 6 GLH 48
9 credits from Optional Unit which is:
Unit 219 Colour and Lighten Men’s Hair Credits 14 GLH 122
Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners.
They need to make sure that learners can fulfil the requirements of the learning outcomes and comply with the relevant literacy, numeracy and health and safety aspects of this qualification.
Learners registered on this qualification should not undertake another qualification at the same level with the same or a similar title, as duplication of learning may affect funding eligibility.
