Mode of study:
The overall aim of this course is to provide applicants with the opportunity to build the necessary skills and qualifications to progress to our Access to Higher Education Diploma.
The Access Level 2 course is delivered over two days.
Students will study:
- Functional Skills English at Level 2 and Functional Skills Maths at Level L1 or L2
Students must be completely committed to hard work and are required to maintain full attendance (100%) throughout the course.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic we may need to take a number of measures that could affect our planned delivery method. For example; planned on site delivery may take a blended approach; a mixture of classroom based and online activities. We will endeavour to ensure course information, including delivery method and pricing, is updated when changes are having to be made. It is important that you have access to a laptop and the WIFI when studying at home.
During Pre-Access, applicants will have the chance to think more about the career route they wish to follow. If successfully completed your future career options are endless from Nursing to Biomedical Science!

Internal progression to Access to HE Diploma Level 3:
- Nursing/Nursing in Work
- Nursing and Health Science
- Social Work
- Business and Law
- Teacher Training
- Criminology or another Level 3 course within Croydon College, progressing towards your career goals in friendly and familiar surroundings.
Your English and maths will be formally (exam) assessed at the end of the academic year.
All applicants will be required to take an English and Mathematics BKSB assessment, regardless of previous qualifications. You must achieve a High Level 1 in English and a Level 1 in Mathematics to be accepted on this course.
All applicants will be interviewed to ensure that the course is the right choice based on previous educational and work experience.
