This course is an introductory course to Art and Design which gives learners the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills in order to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables them to progress to further learning.

By providing a broader sector experience the course encourages learners to take on some individual research, enabling them to be further prepared for higher-level learning.
Teaching and guidance from practising artist and designers.
We have well-resourced studios and workshops for all disciplines.
The course includes work experience, enrichment activities and exhibitions and collaborative projects.
Career Opportunities & Further Study
On completion you will be able to progress to Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design, Graphic and Illustration or Gaming and Animation.
Assessment is designed to fit the purpose and objective of the course and all units are internally assessed – giving learners the opportunity to demonstrate skills developed in applied scenarios. All units are graded to encourage skills development and performance. Units are assessed using a grading scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass and Unclassified. Grading has been introduced at this level as a result of feedback from users and practitioners of the qualification.
Three GCSEs at grades 3/D; or
A related Level 1 vocational qualification; and
A GCSE at grade 3/D (or equivalent) in English; or
English and Mathematics assessed at Entry 3 or above by College assessment.
A satisfactory reference may also be requested.
