A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities.
The job role includes using timber products to create and install building components.
The delivery of this course includes one day per week at Croydon College.
Students will experience on and off the job training.
Career Opportunities & Further Study
The course can lead onto NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations – Site Carpentry.
Apprentices must achieve a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) to demonstrate competency in their chosen occupation.
Learners will be assessed and this can take various forms:
- Synoptic end-test covering the knowledge and skills
- Practical skills test
A-C/9-4 GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills. Apprentices with a D/3 GCSE Maths and English grade or Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English, can up skill during their Apprenticeship.
