Skills for Life

Foundation learning courses are for you if you have a recognised SEN and are looking for support with your learning. They are designed to provide you with the skills needed to move onto a mainstream course, gain work experience and develop independent life skills. This course offers support for those who wish to move on to work.
You will learn:
- Skills which will help you in work such as working in a team
- How to work with others from different cultures and backgrounds
- How to make use your leisure time
- How to manage your money
- Art and craft skills to make a product
- Skills to help you manage your emotions
You will have your English and maths lessons in small groups to help improve your confidence and have extra support from a learning support assistant.
Students on this course also have the chance to take part in activities like Bollywood dancing, yoga, 5-a-side football competitions, selling ceramic ware made by students, cakes sales, attendance and punctuality competitions, organising your own educational trips, peer mentoring and charity fundraisers.
You will benefit from having the support from staff who are very experienced and have a wide range of skills to ensure your college experience is the best it can be.
Career Opportunities & Further Study
You will have the opportunity to take part in work experience shadowing or placement and will work towards reaching the next level of study.
This course is mostly assignment and practice based. Units will be completed with support (where required) throughout the year.

These courses are suitable for applicants who have moderate learning difficulties.
