Course Overview
This mental health training course aims to give learners knowledge about a range of different mental health issues and covers causes of these issues as well as how mental health problems can be managed and treated. This mental health training course will help you to build up achievements in a way which is appropriate and meaningful.
Course Highlights
Unit 1: Understanding mental health
In this unit, your learners will be introduced to a range of prevalent mental health problems and their effects, and will learn about the importance of caring for people with these conditions as individuals. Unit 2: Understanding stress Within this unit, your learners will gain an understanding of the many causes and effects of stress and how it can affect individuals in their day-to-day lives. Unit 3: Understanding anxiety Your learners will discover how anxiety can affect individuals and those around them, as well as how it can be managed. Unit 4: Understanding phobias This unit will introduce your learners to the ways in which phobias can affect individuals, as well as methods for managing the condition. Unit 5: Understanding depression In this unit, your learners will look at the causes and effects of depression on individuals and those around them. Learners will also gain an in-depth insight into the methods that can be used to manage depression. Unit 6: Understanding post-natal depression This unit uncovers the meaning of ‘post-natal depression’ and explores its effects on both women and others around them. Unit 7: Understanding bipolar disorder In this unit, your learners will gain an understanding of what bipolar disorder is and how it can affect individuals, as well as explore a number of management techniques. Unit 8: Understanding schizophrenia In this unit, your employers will discover what schizophrenia is and how it can affect individuals in their day-to-day lives, as well as explore people’s perceptions of this condition due to its representation in the media. Unit 9: Understanding dementia This increasingly prevalent condition is explored in this unit by looking at how different types affect individuals in different ways. Your learners will also gain an understanding of the ways in which this condition can affect others around the individual. Unit 10: Understanding eating disorders This unit will give your learners a comprehensive insight into the different types of eating disorders and their effects on individuals and others around them. Unit 11: Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) In this unit, your learners will gain an understanding of the effects of ADHD, as well as ways in which it can be managed. Unit 12: Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) In this unit, your learners will discover the potential causes of OCD and the effects it can have on individuals and those around them. Learners will also explore some of the ways in which OCD can be managed. Unit 13: Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) In this final unit, your learners will gain an in-depth understanding of the many causes of PTSD, as well as the effects on both individuals and those around them. Learners will also explore the different ways of managing the condition

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course; however, learners should have a minimum of level one in literacy or equivalent.
Our Level 1 and 2 distance learning courses are free if eligible for government funding if you meet the following criteria:
- Must be aged 19 and over as of 31/08/19
- If aged 19-23, you must hold a full Level 2 qualification or above (five GCSEs/O Levels grade A-C/9-4, two or three AS Levels, one A Level, NVQ Level 2, First Certificate or Principle of Learning Level 2). If aged 24+ no qualifications are required.
- A resident in the UK for the last 3 years
- Not enrolled in any other distance learning course with us
