Course Overview
This qualification aims to develop learners’ knowledge of and skills in handling behaviour that challenges. This includes looking at the difference between conflict and behaviour that challenges and aggression versus assertive behaviour. Learners will look at the impact and possible causes of this behaviour and pro-active strategies they can use to support positive behaviour.
Our training courses for carers are ideal for those who are looking to pursue careers in the health and social care sector, or for those learners who are already acting as carers, either professionally or personally.
Course Highlights
Unit 1: Understand behaviour that challenges
In this unit your learners will learn about how behaviour can be perceived as challenging, including the underlying issues that can affect behaviour and the impact this behaviour can have on others. Unit 2: Understand how to support positive behaviour This unit will provide your learners with an understanding of behavioural changes and triggers that may escalate behaviour. They will also consider how strategies and support plans can promote positive behaviour and gain an understanding of legislation that protects the rights of the individual. Unit 3: Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges Within this unit your learners will learn more about the impact that communication can have on the management of behaviour that challenges. They will also learn how positive reinforcement and other techniques can help to Unit 4: Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges In this unit your learners will understand the importance of reflection following an incident of behaviour that challenges, including understanding the consequences of learners’ own actions and how to maintain their well-being.

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course; however, learners should have a minimum of level one in literacy or equivalent.
Our Level 1 and 2 distance learning courses are free if eligible for government funding if you meet the following criteria:
- Must be aged 19 and over as of 31/08/19
- If aged 19-23, you must hold a full Level 2 qualification or above (five GCSEs/O Levels grade A-C/9-4, two or three AS Levels, one A Level, NVQ Level 2, First Certificate or Principle of Learning Level 2). If aged 24+ no qualifications are required.
- A resident in the UK for the last 3 years
- Not enrolled in any other distance learning course with us
