Carpentry & Joinery – Level 3 Diploma – September Start
This qualification is for those individuals who want to further develop their fine carpentry skills, attention to detail and go on to work as a Bench Joiner/Fine Carpenter in the construction sector. Candidates who have studied Site Carpentry at Level 2, or Bench Joinery at level 2, will find this qualification further advances their knowledge and understanding of the woodworking trades.
English and Maths GCSE grade 4 or above, OR English and Maths Functional Skills Level 2, OR Mathematics and English at level 2 by college assessment AND a Level 2 Carpentry Qualification.
This qualification enables candidates to gain, develop, and apply the practical skills needed for employment or career advancement in Bench Joinery and Carpentry. The key skills covered include setting up and operating fixed and portable machinery, manufacturing shaped doors and frames, and constructing stairs with turns.
Upon completing a City & Guilds Level 3 Bench Joinery program, students can pursue various career opportunities in the woodworking trades and the construction industry. For further study, students may progress to a Level 3 NVQ apprenticeships, or Level 4 site management, or other similar Level 4 construction qualifications.
Assessment methods include classroom-based learning, where theoretical lessons are supervised by the teacher, and practical training, which involves hands-on activities guided by qualified instructors. Continuous evaluation ensures that students skills are developed properly, with assessments conducted under direct supervision throughout the program.
