Art & Design – Level 1 BTEC Diploma – September Start

GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview. You will also need to show an art portfolio, containing recent examples of creative work you have done.

Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to participate in exciting trips to art galleries, museums, and design studios in London and the local area.Lessons cover a wide range of topics, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art and design techniques. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity while learning about color theory, composition and the elements of design.

After completing the Art & Design Level 1 BTEC Diploma, students can pursue entry-level roles in creative industries, such as assisting in design studios or working in retail with art-related products. Many also continue their education by progressing to a Level 2 qualification in Art & Design or similar fields, where they can further develop their skills. This diploma lays a foundation for further study at higher levels.

Assessment methods are tailored to align with the course's objectives, ensuring that learners have opportunities to demonstrate their skills in practical scenarios. All units are internally assessed and graded to support skills development and performance.Assessments are graded on a scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, and Unclassified. To earn a qualification, learners must achieve at least a Pass in all assessment criteria for each unit.
